High temperatures arenβt just uncomfortable β they can be dangerous and life-threatening if youβre not prepared. Stay alert and take these steps to protect yourself and others: π₯ Stay hydrated β Drink plenty of water throughout the day. Donβt wait until you feel thirsty. Avoid excessive alcohol or caffeine as they can dehydrate you. π§’ Keep cool β Stay in the shade where possible and avoid going out during peak heat (11amβ3pm). Wear light, loose clothing and a hat. π Look after vulnerable people β Check on elderly neighbours, young children, and pets regularly. Never leave anyone (or animals) in a parked car β even for a minute. π‘οΈ Watch for warning signs β Dizziness, headaches, nausea, confusion, or excessive sweating could mean heat exhaustion or heatstroke. Take immediate action and seek medical help if symptoms worsen. πΏ Cool down safely β Use cool showers, damp cloths, or sit near a fan. Close curtains during the day to keep indoor spaces cooler. πΆββοΈ Take it easy β Avoid strenuous activity in extreme heat. Listen to your body.
